Pre-Construction meeting

Pre-construction meeting went well and lasted for about hour and a half. Our PM is very knowledgeable and seemed to be easy to work with.
We went over the blue prints of the house and confirmed all the selections that we have made.
All in all I am really excited for the lot to be cleared and Ground breaking to happen sometime next week...

  4. I had my precon last week. He almost blew a gasket when I mentioned the possibility of bringing in an outside inspector. He went on for about 20 minutes about how good of a PM and builder he is and he's proud of his work and he won't let an outside inspector ruin our perception of him. I think it's too late..

  5. @LT General - If you feel that your relationship has been damaged by that interaction you need to try and mend the fence. Remind him that you are paying a lot of money for this house and while you trust him to build a beautiful house he is only one guy and it is easy to miss things. You are paying the home inspector to find stuff and they will absolutely find "stuff" but some of it is perception type items and things that are easily fixed, but they may also find stuff that is just plain wrong. It's all in the approach and how you buffer the communication. We almost didn't schedule the inspector to come back for final inspection because our PM has been fantastic with his quality and follow thru, but I want another set of qualified eyes looking at the major systems...primarily HVAC and plumbing...I am not an expert and so much has changed with the codes in the last 15 years that I have no clue what is right and what is wrong. Mend the fence with him because your relationship with him will insure that you end up with a quality HOME in the end.

@Lt General Castanets - we wouldn't move forward without a home inspector.
